Monthly Staffings

Each month I staff cases with my supervisor. During the monthly Staffing we talk about how cases are going and any new findings on the case. We also discuss services in place for parents and children. We also discuss how the parents and children are doing with the implemented services. This is a good time for me to have any case specific questions answered and get my supervisors opinion. As a DCS case manager, we get some discretion when it comes to making vital case decisions. This is why it is important for me to be on the same page as my supervisor so if I have to make split-second decisions, I already know how my supervisor would want me to proceed. Therefore, monthly staffings have really helped me get a better grasp on the DCS processes.

  1. Hi Jamie. It is really good that you have the time to get your questions answered and to ask for feedback from your Supervisor. This seems to be a vital element for any successful internship. The nature of the work you are doing certainly requires that you make well informed decisions in the best interest of the child and family. It is such important work and something I myself would enjoy as well. Daphne

  2. Hi Jamie,

It sounds like you have a strong working relationship with your supervisor and the monthly case reviews have been an important tool for your overall success. I think one-on-one meetings can be a great way to level set goals, expectations, provide clarification on policies and procedures. It is also a good time to reconnect and celebrate successes. I’m glad you have a consistent process in place that helps you to confident in your decision-making skills on the job, having that confidence is so important to overall satisfaction. All the best, Robin

  3. Hi Jamie,

I like how you and your supervisor meets monthly to further discuss which cases are working, which aren't and what can be improved, etc. One and one is definitely important for any clarifications that needs to be clarified or addressed and to further discuss about the next action plan. It is the perfect time to share your thoughts regarding work and allows both to be on the same page. I am glad you have a strong working relationship with your supervisor.
